Our mission is ensuring justice for survivors of child sexual abuse, sexual assault, rape, workplace sexual harassment, and gender based sexual violence. A sexual predator should not be able to get away with it, simply because of unfair statutes of limitations and laws that make it too easy to rape, sexually abuse, and hurt women and children.
A child in Alabama, for example, may only have 1-2 years from the exact time she was sexually abused to take civil legal action against her abuser. If she is age 4, she must get a lawyer by age 6. The same victim in Maine has no statute of limitations for child sexual abuse. You shouldn’t have to win the geographic lottery to get justice as a survivor of child sexual abuse. There should be a unified elimination of all statutes of limitations for child sexual abuse nationwide, in the District of Columbia, on federal lands, on Native American Tribal lands, and in all 50 states.
Together We Stand With You, Fight Side-by-Side, and ROAR Together!
The right to be free of sexual violence is a human right. ROAR is devoted to education, prevention, empowerment and justice for survivors.
“ROAR As One Is Here to Educate, Prevent …”
“ROAR As One Is Here to Educate, Prevent and Create Human Rights for Survivors of Sexual Assault and Violence, Particularly the Most Heinous, Child Sexual Abuse”.
Attorney, activist and survivor, Shari Karney, Esq., as Founder of ROAR As One, is currently working on the Uniform Statute of Limitations Act, “Karney USOL Act” to eliminate the civil statute of limitations for child sexual abuse nationwide, in all 50 states, in the federal government, on Native American Tribal Lands, and in Washington, D.C. States that eliminate the civil statute of limitations for victims of child sexual abuse will receive block grants for education, prevention, treatment, health, and legal services, research and services for survivors.
Survivors Deserve Civil Rights and Justice
One-in-three girls and one-in-five boys are victims of child sexual abuse before the age of 18. (Dept. of Justice statistics). This is the largest worldwide pandemic on the planet. A child cannot be protected by a mask, sexual violence cannot be prevented by sheltering-in-place, and there is no vaccination against rape or sexual harassment. No one is ever immune from it, from birth to death.
Yet every other social and civil injustice, every major disease or health issue, gets more money, media, events, runs, walks, ribbons, public outcry, celebrity support and attention than child sexual abuse and all forms of sexual violence. Because sexual violence is considered a right by those who hold power over women and children, people in power feel entitled to partake of the bounty of their property. People always ask, “Why do perpetrators sexually violate a small child?” The answer, unfortunately, is “Because it feels good to them, and they can.”
ROAR is here to help create a national platform to deprive predators of their prey.
These are the three solutions for a child sexual abuse and sexual violence national platform.

Prevention/Education
Children/teens of every age need to be taught what is appropriate touching and what is not. Whether the person touching them is a parent, doctor, coach, priest, family member, or loved one, learn what is acceptable and what is not. Teach who to tell, how to tell, and where to find support for the victim once they do tell. Basic education must be taught at every level, required in every profession as part of continuing education, in the courthouse, in the legislature, in business, institutions, health care, technology, entertainment, service industries. From every Uber driver to every Uber passenger. In every community, of every color, for every gender, and in every age group. Mass commitment to the education and prevention of child sexual abuse and all forms of sexual violence. Teaching the culture, just like COVID-19, what to look for, how to recognize the grooming process, how to tell, when to tell, and who to tell.

“It’s personal for me. I am a survivor of sexual harassment, sexual assault and child sexual abuse. I am proud to stand with survivors to break silence and send a powerful message. We have suffered enough. It’s time for justice. It’s time for civil rights for survivors! It’s time for a reckoning.”
